The Wave Stool
More and more of us spend a large amount of our time sitting. It's therefore no coincidence that back pain is now so common. All too often we flop into a chair and let our bodies go to sleep through lack of stimulation, whilst our minds are elsewhere. No wonder we tend to misuse ourselves and suffer the consequences.
Many 'ergonomic' seats try to overcome this by holding the sitter in a 'correct posture' with various types of supports. This corrects the posture but does little to make us feel more alive. The Wave Stool however takes a more subtle approach. As users of The Alexander Technique know, your body has an in-built sense of poise - but this will only work if you use it! The Wave Stool helps to activate this. The continuous, often imperceptible, movements of the rockers use and improve your natural balance, leaving you with an enhanced sense of vitality.
Sitting on the Wave Stool your spine is in healthy alignment. Its forward sloping seat makes upright sitting easy. If you have back trouble it can stop it getting any worse, and greatly assist recovery. Tense aching muscles can begin to release as you discover how easy it is to be upright just by balance. The stool's gentle movements help muscles to continue relaxing. A backrest simply isn't needed, as you are not being tipped backwards.
Increased Comfort
The rockers allow the seat angle to adjust exactly to suit your height. By moving a little forward or back, you can change the angle, to vary where you feel supported, whenever you like. Also the 'v' shaped rockers give you more foot room than almost any other seat, so you can move your feet around whenever you choose. There are no chair legs or castors catching your heels when you want to stand and no knee rests to put pressure on your knees and fix your legs in one position.
Tester's Verdict
The Wave Stool is completely different from any other seat I have tried. Being tall I tend to slouch at desks, as they are usually too low for me. However, when I sat on the Wave Stool I immediately found I was sitting up straight without even thinking about it. The clever rocking motion tilts your pelvis forward encouraging you to sit straighter naturally. By sitting in a more natural position at my desk I've found I suffer from far fewer aches and pains in both my back and shoulders, enabling me to be far more productive at work. Like all the best ideas the Wave Stool is a simple one, yet highly effective and I would strongly recommend anyone to try it and feel the difference it can make.
