Cranial Osteopathy is a method of healing in which the practitioner uses their hands to
heal. It is an extremely gentle method of treating the body, and is safe for children and people of all ages. Although this Cranial Osteopathy is normally associated with the head area, it can also be used for the whole body.
William Garner Sutherland developed the practice of Cranial Osteopathy in the 1930's. A drug-free, hands-on technique of gentle manipulation of the skull, practitioners of this therapy relieve tension and pain, returning the body's balance back into harmony. Once the area for treatment has been identified the practitioner will use their hands to direct energy. The process of a treatment is extremely gentle and you remain fully clothed throughout the treatment. It is not uncommon to feel so relaxed that you fall asleep. The process can activate the body's natural corrective healing mechanisms.
Practitioners of this alternative therapy believe that gentle manipulation of the skull can relieve pain and tension, bringing the body back into balance. It is a non-intrusive therapy in which the body relaxes and effectively healts itself.
Cranial Sacral Osteopathy is specially suitable for newborn babies and young children.
