complementary therapies explained healing touch
Healing Touch (HT) is an energy-based therapeutic approach to healing. HT uses touch and compassionate intentionality to influence the energy system of a person. HT facilitates a balanced, clear energy system, thus affecting physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Research and numerous case studies uphold the concepts of Healing Touch and show significant changes in the healing process.

The application of Healing Touch is derived by the ancient laying-on-of-hands, which has been a form of healing since early civilisation. Studies support the physical healing, emotional balance, mental clarity and a deepened spiritual awareness with HT application.

The Healing Touch Program was developed in 1989 by Janet Mentgen, RN, and is sponsored by Healing Touch International and endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Association. HT reflects a blend of energetic modalities and techniques from Delores Krieger, Brugh Joy, Barbara Brennan, Roselyn Bruyere, Richard Gerber, Rudy Noel and Janet Mentgen. All are taught under the curriculum-umbrella know as Healing Touch.

Certification with Healing Touch International is obtained through a rigorous multi-level program which is taught internationally, including such locations as: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, South America and Asia.

HT works through a client's external energy fields and energy centres - the aura and Chakra 3/4 which can become blocked, congested, imbalanced or over-active. The practitioner affects the energy fields and Chakra areas to correct the conditions.

HT is being used as a co-operative modality for healthcare by Nurses, MDs, Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists, Dentists, Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Psychotherapists, counsellors and spiritual directors, in areas such as: medical and surgical care, obstetrics, paediatrics, geriatrics, mental health, public health, hospice and veterinary care.
